Frequently Asked Questions – Browser Edition
1. FrugalFlyer.com shows most offers in a comparison panel but also includes several airlines (hotels and cars) in a separate window. Why can’t I view all offers in the comparison panel?
Each browser is unique with limits and requirements. FrugalFlyer.com shows almost all airlines,
hotels and car rentals in Firefox and Chrome with the need of separate windows. However, Internet
Explorer requires more offers to be displayed by opening separate windows (browser tabs). Because
of these limits we recommend using the Firefox or Chrome browser, especially if you prefer to view
offers within the comparison panel.
We also encourage you to use the free FrugalFlyer.com iPad and Android tablet app (Honeycomb)
that displays all offers within a comparison panel.
2. Sometimes an offer does not load properly? What should I do when this happens?
Use the reload button in the top right corner of the display. While trying to load offers from several
different airlines at once it is not unusual to run into this problem. Most of the time it can be corrected by
simply pressing the Reload button (blue circle arrow) in top right of the display.
3. Does FrugalFlyer.com work for other countries?
Yes. You can use FrugalFlyer.com to look for Flights, Hotels and Car rentals in most of Europe and
some parts of Asia. Be sure to enter your Country of Residence. Frugalflyer.com uses your Country of
Residence to determine which online travel agencies to display.
FrugalFlyer.com is currently adding a number of airlines and hotels from Europe so that you can receive
offers without typing in your travel requirements at each site. Please allow time before FrugalFlyer.com is
fully implemented for Europe and Asia.
4. FrugalFlyer.com saves search information in the History file for flights, hotels, and car rentals. How many records does FrugalFlyer.com keep?
FrugalFlyer.com keeps the last ten searches in each category.
5. What is unique about FrugalFlyer.com?
FrugalFlyer.com provides you with offers direct at the source so that you can compare what each vendor
has to provide. Many airlines, for example, now provide services like Wifi on board, extra leg room,
special seating, convenient schedules, extra mileage for purchase when booking, baggage allowances, and
more. It is often only possible to see the full richness of an airline’s offer (or for that matter hotel and car
rental company) direct at their website. That is what FrugalFlyer.com provides that is not found anywhere
else. Its what we call real choice. FrugalFlyer.com lets you compare the full offer from each of the
airlines direct at their site. You can also compare these offering with those from online travel agencies.
FrugalFlyer.com lets you view multiple offers at the same time and to easily switch between them while
comparing offers.
6. Is there an advantage to renting a car direct from the rental car company?
Many times the rental car company can provide much greater detail about their cars and the additional
options like GPS, infant seats, insurance options, and more. However, it is not unusual to find a lower
price from one of the online travel agencies.
7. Does FrugalFlyer.com assume the age of the driver for a car rental is over 25?
Yes. If you are under 25 you will need to contact the car rental company and advise them to determine
their policy.
8. Does the price quoted for flights, hotels and car rentals always include all the taxes and fees?
Not always. Some vendors provide the total price that includes all applicable taxes and fees, but
sometimes this is saved to the end of the booking process. Be sure to study the price display and make
sure you are comparing the total prices.
9. What does “Require Data Input” mean?
FrugalFlyer.com attempts to collect your travel information once and then to pass it along to each
of the different travel sites to get an offer tailored to your need. FrugalFlyer.com is able to do this
for most travel sites, but not all. When we are unable to do this for a travel site we list that site in the
category “Requires Data Input.”
10. I like FrugalFlyer.com. How can I help spread the word?

11. Sometimes FrugalFlyer.com will not include an airline or hotel that I think it should. When that
happens and I want to advise FrugalFlyer.com, what can I do?

support@FrugalFlyer.com and let us know what we failed to include or perhaps included but shouldn’t
have.
